2 to Link at Nottingham Chamber Music Festival

Last month, 2 to Link was invited to record an exciting programme for Nottingham Chamber Music Festival. Here is the link to the online event!

We have chosen a piece of duet, which we didn’t even know before, written by a German composer, Johann Franz Xaver Sterkel (1750-1817).

Why?

Because we wanted to promote some unknown gems from classical violin&viola duos…and simply, it is exciting to learn an unknown piece!

Also, we’ve chosen a music for the purpose of forming a “Virtual Duo” with potential violin/viola players around the world. This means, anyone can record one of the parts (music is provided) with pre-recorded viola  (or violin) part and send the video to the Nottingham Chamber Music Festival, and they’ll edit the recordings to form a virtual duo with one of us.

In order to make it more accessible, we tried to pick a movement which is musically satisfying, yet not too difficult to play….in this case, second movement of Duo for Violin and Viola in F major, StWV 203/3 by Sterkel.

We are looking forward to forming duos with audience from everywhere and from every level. It doesn’t matter if you are a pro or student or amateur musician. I know playing with a pre-recorded person is far away from the reality of playing with a real person, but you can gain different experience with this kind of project, and the best of all — the result will stay as the form of a video for you!

Stay safe and have fun!
