During the lockdown in 2020, I could only do chamber music with my family. I admit that I was extremely lucky to have another professional musician in my household: my husband, Adam Romer, (modern/historical violist, Hungarian folk violinist). We actually met while studying with Prof. Lorand Fenyves back in Canada, so we do share a lot of fundamental musical ideas, making us an ideal partner to play chamber music. Adam is currently a section leader violist in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and a leader of his own Hungarian folk band, “Folktone.”
Naturally, we have played together a lot before the pandemic. (We even did a tour in East Timor!) But it has been sporadic and we never gave a name to our duo ensemble. Now we are focused to play classical duets on historical instruments, in order to introduce many unknown duets from the classical era.
Here is our first video, the first movement Allegro from Antonio Bartolomeo Bruni:Concertante Duo Op.25 No.4. In fact, we are in Bruni’s 200 memorial year! He was born in Cuneo, Italy in1757 and died at the same place in 1821, although he has lived and composed mainly in Paris.
Here is the Second movement, Allegretto Scherzando. It is a really humorous movement and we fell in love with it. Enjoy!
The collection of our duo recordings can be seen Here as well. We hope you enjoy!
